Check it out!!

http://www.etsy.com/treasury_list.php?room_id=69618

Note, there seems to have been some confusion, these are not my items, they are items by other people that I like. But by clicking on the link and checking out the pages of the items, it gets moved further up the list and has more of a chance to get onto the front page of Etsy, where my username will also be.

If you feel weird about promoting my stuff, I really do like all of the items in the treasury and they are worth a look. Etsy is full of so many talented people!!

There was a huge thunderstorm that rolled in and postponed the fireworks, but the clouds looked cool as hell. I took a bunch of pics and made them into a panorama:

Linked because it's huge.

Josh brought something up the other day that hurt my head.

Let's say you want to live forever, or for a very long time (just say it). Someone invents a thing that can copy your brain and put it into a robot/computer that can perfectly simulate a human brain to allow you to live on. Cool?

Or not?

The issue is.. when you are copied and put somewhere else and then turned on, is it YOU being turned on, or something else that thinks it's you. Can YOU (the person siting there) ever TRULY live on as you wish you would, by being copied, or can only a separate entity who is exactly like you move on and live?

I guess this gets into the concept of a soul, which neither Josh nor I believe in, so for the sake or argument, lets say there is no soul. You are a big fat chemical reaction.

At first I thought, does it really matter? If you have no soul then you *are* just a computer with a brain, so putting your mind into another computer would be like moving a CD from one computer to another. But then I changed my mind and thought it was more like copying a file from a CD onto the computer. The CD will stay as it is, and the copy will go do it's own thing, even though it is exactly like the one on the CD, it is still a different thing.

So no, you can not live on by copying your brain into a computer that can run it. The only way you can live on is to preserve the physical brain.

..Then I got mad because I'd really like to live forever and that was one of the few ways I might have been able to do it, but no more. Thanks Josh.

*sigh*

I got my first ever treasury listing on Etsy and if it gets enough love it might make it to the front page! You just need to click it and maybe spend a few moments on the page. It's be even cooler if you'd actually read it and leave a comment if you have an etsy account.

Did my first 7 hours today! I wasn't too bad, and while all I really had to do was ring people up, the other things I'll have to do (mostly cleaning) don't seem like too big of a deal.

Did a painting yesterday, it's a plague doctor!

Woo! I officially officially have the Kum and Go job! I go in Wednesday to do some paperwork, and around the 20th I'll go in for training for a few days, and then 4 days after I finish that I'll start regular work! WOO! Jim says I'll start at about $7.19 an hour, but he'll try to et me a raise pretty quick. Awweesoomeee.

He asked me if I mind cleaning and I said no, that's pretty much what I do around here and I worked at a DOG KENNEL for several months and he said he wouldn't even do that, lol. My cartilage piercings won't be an issue and he says he might let me wear my collar.. he says he thinks it's neat and everyone should be allowed to have some sort of personality. He said the only thing I wouldn't be able to get would be a tongue piercing, which I was thinking about a while back but they just take too damned long to heal.

So.. Yeah! JOB! w00t!

P.S. Josh reminded me, this is yet another proof of it's not what you know, it's who you know. I hate proving that right, it's so unfair.

Woo!

Bowling this weekend was fun, I figured some stuff out and now my record is 109.. though my average is closer to the mid eighties. I'm getting better!

As I browse Etsy, I keep seeing a bunch of really neat stuff and some of it looks like I might be able to make, especially some of the steampunk rings. This got me curious about soldering, and Last night, with Josh's help, I started to learn how with some pre-fluxed solder made for circuit boards (lol) and some stripped copper wire. At first I was just messing around, but the freak chunk of wire I had made started to take shape, and I made this:

Today I think I'll make a little devil :-D

If I ever actually want to make jewelry I'll have to get some silver solder, or at least something without lead, and that usually requires a torch to heat the metal hot enough to get it to melt. We have one, but that sounds scary O_O

Omg
